I'd like to ask everyone to pray for us and for our city. I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which - as you may know - has been pretty much wiped out by the recent flooding. No, the buildings still stand, but our downtown is a wreck and it will be a long time before everything is back to normal. We've pulled together and I am so amazed by this city (I lived elsewhere in the Flood of 93 and did not see this kind of compassion and strength). Two of our Catholic churches, including the oldest Czech church in the area, were damaged in the flood. I'd like to ask for prayers as we clean up and that God will be seen in both the destruction and in our strength and community spirit. Thanks!

You have my prayers as well as my empathy, hon. I know what it's like to see your city badly damaged by catastrophic flooding. No picnic.

Thanks for the prayers and empathy. I take it you have been here before (in this situation I mean)?

Sadly. I lived in the New Orleans suburbs and worked in the city proper when Katrina hit. My office was destroyed, as were the homes of many coworkers and friends.

Wow. Yeah, that's a bad deal. It's amazing how much destruction flooding can cause.
